The birth of ORAS

‘ We will never be the same’

  The vision bearer speaks

Growing up as a child with both parents alive, my life was characterized  with many episodes of lack.  There were times when we lacked shoes, school uniforms school books or had great difficulty paying fees. This brought me to constantly ask myself what happens to children who had no one  to call mama, no one to call papa.  Someone has got to think about them and that person could be me..  I was inspired to compose the song Orphans plight in the year 2009 to advocate for the engagement of individuals and communities in the plight of the orphan.

In 2016 together with some likeminded persons we decided to start doing a more concrete work, reaching out to those closest to us at a time in Cameroon when the Crisis in the North and South West regions of Cameroon produced more orphans  widows and Internally Displaced Persons. By 2020 it was no longer about  individuals but about leaving behind a legacy through a well organized structure . We were legally recognized in 2020.

I am lucky to have met a believing wife who does not only believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the saving instruction in Isaiah 61:1 but also a strong believer in empowering the needy in a sustainable way.  The assignment involves going  beyond the boundaries of religion to extend the love of Christ  through giving to the needy with emphasis on Orphans and widows. Called to lead this legacy our lives will never be the same. We have come to understand we are called to give not because our lives are better off, not because all our children’s fees or bills have been paid , but because the master calls us, because we live in a kingdom where we gain by losing,  where we are called to achieve a greater good often above our personal ambitions. For the captives that must be set free, the sick that must be healed the hungry that must be fed  how can our lives be the same?
