Crisis in the NW & SW

Due to the ongoing crisis in Cameroon, many have lost their loved ones and continue to lose their homes, businesses, jobs, and the hope of  a bright future thus increasing  the number of widows and orphans in the affected  communities. Some have had to flee into neighboring countries and others into the French speaking regions of the country not directly affected by the crisis. Others are stuck in the crisis zone with nowhere to go and live in constant fear for their lives, not knowing what will happen next.

This has increased the number of homeless people, women, and young girls between the ages of 12-15 going into prostitution, increase in teenage pregnancies, school dropouts, increased crime and people living in deplorable conditions with no food to eat or means to survive. Families have seen their families double or triple in size suddenly, without the budget to accommodate them because they have to receive family members and friends that are affected. This has led to host families getting overwhelmed.

The works of ORAS in kumbo was amplified  following the crisis in Cameroon which started in October of 2016. This led to the death of thousands with over half a million having to flee to other countries and cities as refugees and  internally displaced Persons. The crisis left behind many orphans and widows. Many husbands and fathers were killed, many lost their homes, and the opportunity for a bright future was suddenly taken away from them and their hopes shattered. ORAS intervention is  born of the desire to comfort, restore hope, and spread love to people affected by the crisis.
